Dan Walwin presents works here as part of a series concentrating on the possibilities and interplays of the virtual and the visceral. They bring together erratic sources that get condensed into new forms, rigorously arranged to hypnotic effect, while also testing the contradiction of these diverging compulsions. His work tends to be informed by manners of shifting between forms, thinking through how physical forms can inverted or folded back around into a digital landscape, and vice versa. The result seems to be always indebted to some idea of surrealism, and the way this might unravel in a contemporary setting.
Dan Walwin (b.1986, UK), studied Fine Art at Goldsmiths College, London, and was resident artist at the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten, Amsterdam. In 2019 he presented the solo exhibition “True place” at Center for Contemporary Arts Prague and a screening of his works, “Enclosures and desertion” at Whitechapel Gallery, London. He recently exhibited as part of the 6th Rennes Biennale, and has shown within group exhibitions and screenings at De Hallen Haarlem, Kunstmuseum Bonn, South London Gallery, Wexner Center for the Arts, W139, LIMA, and Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam.
Brinkman & Bergsma is a collaboration between Jacko Brinkman and Frits Bergsma. Both have been active in the contemporary art world for decades. Brinkman & Bergsma present work by their favorite artists in unexpected places.
